The Girl

Wrapped in blankets all around
The little girl was afraid of sound

Lying in bed afraid to sleep
Someone may come and quietly creep.

They may touch her back and make her feel
She hated for life to be so real.

So away she ran on a cloud of dreams
Yet, from her heart she heard silent screams.

She dreamed of God, of love and hope
With her feelings she felt she could not cope.

Escaping from her pain, she wandered far
Maybe one day she would be a star.

She would sing her songs with feeling and depth
Yet deep inside, reality crept.

Stealing her hope, her dreams and her life
She knew she must somehow avoid the strife.

She ran when someone pledged love to her
Afraid of the feelings that began to stir.

Waking up to the real world’s lack of concern
Feelings stormed inside her and made her burn.

She looked at herself with deep disdain
And wondered how to deal with all of her pain.

The road she had chosen was filled with wrongs
She knew she could no longer sing her old songs.

No turning back for her sin sick soul
She realized now that she was too old.

Ahead of her no open door gave way
Her rewards were of stuble, wood and hay.

The Word says forgiveness is from East to West
But only the church knows what is best.

Let her suffer for the choices she has made
She paved the path which is now laid.

A life of Nos and Nots would suit her well
For she truly deserves the pits of hell.

"Wait!" I heard the Lord cry aloud
"I took the rejection from this crowd."

"Her sins were nailed on the cross in shame
Why do you continue to play this game?"

"The game ‘I am more holy than thou’ must end
I will not get back on the cross again."

As the Lord spoke and stood by her side
She knew she no longer had to hide.

She was free to find her place in God’s will
No longer would her life merely stand still.

She would run the race, fight the fight,
And battle the prince of the powers of night,

Jesus truly loved her, she knew this was true
Tell me friend has this happened to you?

Are you carrying a cross twice your size?
Do you think you are mighty and wise?

Turn from your selfish and shallow ways
Jesus will give you peace filled days.

He did for the girl this story is about,
She no longer has to worry and doubt.

I know this story is true - don’t you see,
The girl in the story is actually me.

I love Him, adore Him and need Him each hour
He constantly fills me with His love and power.

He stands with me through every rejection I face
And He will help me run this race.
