Living with Cancer?

Buddy is - and doing quite well!

But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God. s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6

One Saturday afternoon I received an update from an Internet friend who is "Living with Cancer." He shared his feelings so beautifully that I just had to share it with you. Of course, I asked his permission and he said it was okay. I hope it encourages each and every person who is struggling with a debilitating illness to press on openly and honestly! Thanks Buddy!

Rambling With Cancer

Hey folks. Can I talk to you from the standpoint of a person living (not dying) with cancer? Many of my Internet friends know that for five years I worked very closely with Hospice of Charlotte. I know from this experience that my condition will continue to worsen. I know that we can talk about a miracle taking place for a complete cure. I go back several years ago having a serious conversation with some of the full-time hospice employees about this subject. They talked about seeing all kinds of miracles taking place over the years through their patients. They saw where the lives of the spouse or other family members had made a complete change in their life style, because of the cancer in loved ones. They saw many other changes, but NEVER a complete cure for the condition of the patient. (Although healing has happened occasionally.)

Caregivers

Over the years I came to have a lot of love and compassion for the wives of the patients I worked with. I saw where men do not make the best patients. We expect too much from our wives because we get to the place where we are unable to care for ourselves. I have had some of these wives come up to me with a big hug saying "Buddy I have to get away from him, because he is driving me crazy."

At this time Lois is at the church helping serve a lunch for some of the older women in the church. (Can they get older than us?) I needed to run the vacuum, as I did not get it done yesterday when I should have. NOW the medication (Casodex) that I take every evening pulls a lot of my strength out and I need to stop quiet often to rest. I have a problem even walking too far without having to stop for a rest. I will reach the point that I will not be able to do that small task that Lois promoted me to.

LOIS

Now some of you know Lois from working with her at church and know that she goes 90 MPH all the time. I have not always been the best husband, with a lot of faults, and cannot say enough, for how Lois is doing so much of the work that I should be doing. I want you all to know that I cannot say enough about just how great she is taking this matter. CAN I COUNT ON ALL OF YOU TO KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS THAT I WILL NEVER LOOSE SIGHT OF ALL HER GREAT POINTS? I do not want to allow myself to drive her to the point that she cries, that she needs to get away from me. So many of us demand that they stay at our sides at all times.

NOW ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,

Love in Christ
