Divorce is not a Dirty Word
O Lord, how long will you forget me?
Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle
with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will
my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore
the light to my eyes, or I will die. Dont let my enemies gloat, saying,
"We have defeated him!" Don't let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust
in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will
sing to the Lord because he has been so good to me.
Well, does that sound like something you have prayed or wanted to pray? Well, like King David discovered, God has not forsaken you. He may have looked the other way for a moment because He cannot look at sin, but the minute we cry out for Him — He is there!
Although He may not come charging to you on a white horse, He will rescue you when you turn all that you are and have over to His care. He wants us to come to Him as a little child — with total abandon and for some of us that is hard to do because we have never known the true freedom of being a child.
It hurts to know that our marriage is over. It hurts to know that what was so important to us was not so important to someone else, but God can pick you up and help you with a new start. I hate to tell you this, but you will have to deal with the sorrow in your heart. Although He is right beside you, it is still ultimately up to you for healing to take place. He is there. Just tell Him what you are going through. He understands and He will walk with you through the storm.
Lord, I have never needed you like I need you now. I want to talk to You, but I hurt so badly the words will not come. Will You please just look at my heart and know that I need You? Thank You.
