Divorce is not a Dirty Word
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! ... Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm l39:13-18,23-24
At one point in my life I hated reading these verses. When I thought about God knowing "all the days ordained for me" I stayed confused. Of course, the reason I stayed confused was the enormous amount of pain I lived through.
Have you ever planned or "ordained" to do something in your life? I have. Some of the plans I made never took place because other people backed out or I backed out at the last minute.
God gave you a free will. He also gave other people a free will. So, with so many people having free will and making wrong choices, its no wonder God's original plan for your life never happened in just the way He planned for it to happen.
Once I realized the truth of this, I just lifted my hands to my Lord and sang out a love song to Him. He does want what is best for you, what will please you, and at the same time ¾ what will please Him. However, your Father God honors whatever decisions you make. As we have discussed, you can either go or grow through your divorce. The choice is totally yours. What are you going to do?
