Divorce is not a Dirty Word
In my distress I called to the LORD; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears. . .He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. . .As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. 2 Samuel 22:7,20,31
You may still be thinking that your divorce is the most devastating thing that could ever have happened to you. What if, in God's eyes, you are better able to serve Him alone? Could you think about that today? Verse 20 talks about God bringing us to a "spacious" place or a "safe" place. When we stop and think that God sees the whole picture it may give us a different perspective.
God knows the beginning from the end. If He allowed divorce to happen in your life, even though He hates it, He must know something about your future that you don't know. As you begin to trust Him with complete abandon your paths begin to straighten and your hope will surge to new heights.
In our day and time, we tend to equate success with material gain. In God's world success is love, being free to love and serve others as Jesus served and loved. Helping others to find the joy of the Lord is one of the greatest blessings I have ever experienced.
I have had a nice house with a swimming pool. I have owned a 1965 Corvette. I have been to Disney World twice. None of those things were as pleasing as introducing someone to the saving grace of God or helping them find freedom from internal pain.
Believe today that God has a better way for you. The plans He has for your life are vast. The only problem is that you have to be tuned into Him to receive them, but its not really hard when we learn to trust and obey.
