Divorce is not a Dirty Word

Week Six Day Seven

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them -- the LORD , who remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. The LORD reigns forever, your God ...for all generations. Praise the Lord. Psalm 146: 5-10

God is the perfect parent. He wants to parent us. God gives us Himself, and basically, that is all we really need. All of our other needs are based on what we want people to think about us, or for our physical comfort. God gives us Himself, and in so doing, completes us. We are one with Him. Isn't it wonderful to know that He sets prisoners free, gives sight to the blind, lifts up those who are bowers down (depressed), loves the righteous, watches over the alien, sustains the fatherless and the widow (divorced person too) through you?

God literally wants us to rest in Him; rest in His mercy and grace. The only condemnation we can receive is that which we induce on ourselves. He offers us a full pardon. Our sins are paid in full. There is hope in Him now, not only in heaven. Cry says that the joy He gives, "is not a superficial response that ignores the problems in our lives, but a profound emotion that is confident in facing the darkness with open eyes. It is a joy that issues in Thanksgiving and praise: a joy that leads to worship."

When you attend church this Sunday. Truly worship your Father from the very pit of your soul. Recognize the troubles He has brought you through, and the character He is entrusting in you as a result of those troubles. He knows your heart, your hurts, and offers you hope.
