Pharaoh's birthday came three days later, and he gave a banquet for all his officials and household staff. He sent for his chief cup-bearer and chief baker, and they were brought to him from the prison. He then restored the chief cup-bearer to his former position, but he sentenced the chief baker to be impaled on a pole, just as Joseph had predicted. Pharaoh's cup-bearer, however, promptly forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought. Gen 40:20-23 NLT
In the 40th chapter we read that Joseph interpreted the Cup Bearer and the Baker's dream and all that he had told them came to pass. He then asked the Cup Bearer to remember him when he was restored to his position of serving the Pharoah. But the man forgot (I couldn't help but feel disappointed for Joseph when I read that) and Joseph didn't get the freedom that he had hoped for.
There have been many times I have been obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit only to see someone else reap the benefit from it. Which is a wonderful thing to see that God can use us to be a blessing. I have to admit at times I had hoped that I would be the one benefiting. Then I remind myself and repent because I am not in this for selfish motives, but to be a blessing to others.
Joseph didn't give up, quit and tell God that he was tired of doing right and not reaping the benefit. No he just continued on doing what was right. His diligence and positive attitude made a difference in the long run. Joseph took each small task and did his best.
Yes, I do have hopes and dreams, the Lord put it in my heart what He wanted me to do. But the fulfillment of that dream has not been completed. And sometimes I feel like I am out on a barren cliff alone and separated from seeing my dreams fulfilled. I admit that at times I have gotten discouraged, and that has led to delays that probably would not have happened if I had stayed positive. I realize that in everything there is a season and that I must redeem the time to the best of my abilities.
God did something totally awesome in Joseph's life, and it started many years before with a dream that made him happy, and his siblings dislike him even more. I have found that in sharing the vision that God has given me usually goes over like a lead balloon with the majority of people. So, I have learned to not say anything and let God pave the way for me. Diligence and positive attitude got the attention of those who were over Joseph, and they saw how God was with him and that they were blessed because they had Joseph with them.
It wasn't until two years later that the Cup Bearer remembered Joseph to Pharoah. When I read this it made me realize that When something big is about to happen in your life, it might take awhile for the stage to be set. This has happened to me so many times you'd think I'd have the waiting part down pat by now. I guess I just need a reminder every so often.
Faithfullness in doing those things that God has opened the door for us to do. Taking each task and doing our best. As we are obedient, God pours out His blessing on us. Others may be reaping the benefits of our obedience, but the favor of the Lord that others see in our lives is like making an announcement over the loud speaker, "Look everyone, we are being blessed because of their obedience!" The Lord loves to brag on His children when we do good. Sooooo, let God and others do your bragging for you, we don't need to say anything.
In Psalms 105:4-5 NLT; Search for the LORD and for his strength, and keep on searching. Think of the wonderful works he has done, the miracles and the judgments he handed down.
So, when it seems that your going no where and God is far from you, don't give up, seek Him continually, be persistent in your efforts. He rewards those who sincerely look for Him. Stop focusing on what is not happening, think about the things that God has already done and how far he has brought you. Give Him praise and you will find that God will work in your situation.
In His Love
