Exodus 20:4, 22-23 NLT; Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. You shall not make anything to be with Me or in addition to Meógods of silver or gold you shall.
In reading these scriptures I can see how easy it can be for us to busy ourselves in setting up a worship service, in a manner where we feel itís all under control. We can paint a beautiful picture with our voices and instruments. We practice hard so that the sound of our music and the word presented is pleasing to the ear.
Our goal and purpose in worship is to draw close to the Lord, to focus on Him and give Him praise. If we are so focused on the picture we want others to see, we are drawing the attention off of God and onto ourselves.
There is one thing that I have experienced though that far out does anything that I or anyone else can do. And that is to step aside within ourselves and allow the anointing to rise up in us, using us as instruments to manifest His glory. Glory is manifested in our worship in ways that we can never imitate or manufacture. We must allow the Lord to manifest His glory His way. He doesnít want us to try to manufacture it for Him.
He knows the thought and intents of our heart. He knows if our worship is in spirit and truth. He knows if our minds are on Him. He is in love with us, and sensitive to our every move. How I praise the Living God for loving me, for seeing past my faults to the deepest part of who I am, yet still loving me in spite of it.
I know that I have been guilty at times of giving lip service in worship, of going through the motions. But because Jesus loves me, He sends His Spirit to convict me, cleanses me and brings me back to where I am supposed to be. It's up to me to set my heart, mind, soul, and strength to focus on giving Him the praise that is due His name.
Lord Jesus I praise You and thank You for Your love that captures my attention. I praise You because the most wonderful times of my life have been the times when you have manifested Your glory to me. May we all come to know You more and experience Your glory as we draw near to Your throne of grace.
In His Love
