Come If Your Thirsty

Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, "Please give me a drink." He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.  The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, "You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?"
Jesus replied, " If you only knew the gift God has for you and who I am, you would ask me, and I would give you living water."
"But sir, you donít have a rope or a bucket," she said, "and this is a very deep well. Where would you get this living water? And besides, are you greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his cattle enjoyed?"
Jesus replied, "People soon become thirsty again after drinking this water. But the water I give them takes away thirst altogether. It becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving them eternal life."  John 4:7-14

When we get thirsty we start looking for something to quench our thirst.  To satisfy our thirsty soul often times we look for things that will only satisfy our carnal mind and fleshly senses.

Until we recognize that it is our spirit not the soul that needs to drink we will be continually thirsty.

Water often represents the Spirit of God. As you may have begun to discover the hidden things of God are not discerned by the natural mind, but that they are revealed to us by the Spirit of God. Proverbs 3: 5 tells us not to lean on our own understanding but in all our ways we are to acknowledge Him and He will direct our path.

To lean on your understanding usually leads you to trouble.  I cannot say to anyone; here are the guidelines to all there is to know about God and following after us.  We each have to walk down our own path.  The only way for us to discover "His" path is to seek the Lord. Discover what is on His heart for yourself.  I can try to help someone along, and at times the Lord might lead us to do that.  But those times are because God wants to use us as an encouragement.  But to constantly have someone lean on another is for them to learn to trust in that person rather than finding their strength in God.

Hearing the voice of God in whatever manner that we hear does something inside of us that changes us forever.  And the more we seek Him, the more we learn that as our spirit drinks from the well of living water, those things of the carnal nature become of less importance to us.  They never satisfied us anyway.  We begin to hunger and thirst for His righteousness. And when we drink (listening, obeying and learning) He he satisfies our thirsty spirits our soul gets satisfied also

  • Lord I pray that I will learn to acknowledge you in "all" of my ways.  I find my comfort my strength only in Your.  To look in another direction only leads me down a dark unlighted path.  Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name. And follow hard after You.

In His Love
