To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
I trust in you, my God!
Do not let
me be disgraced,
or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.
No one who
trusts in you will ever be disgraced,
but disgrace comes to those who try to
deceive others.
Show me the path where I should walk, O Lord;
point out
the right road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for
you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you.
Psalm
25:1-5
Several years ago the Lord led me to start praying against a spirit of deception. This is a difficult assignment; deception is everywhere!
We know that Satan is the father of lies. He wants to distract us from genuine worship. Therefore, he will often get us sidetracked by getting us involved in the lives of people where we don't need to be involved. That is when it is time to refocus. Worship gives us the opportunity to do that.
As you go to worship Him today, ask Him to show you someone who is being deceived. Then, simply go to that person and let them know you love them. It is not your job to show them how they are being deceived, it is simply your job to love them and let them know that they are not alone. Maybe if we will take the time to love them it will give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to show them the truth. After all, He is the God who saves us all!
Father, I know that part of worshiping You is loving the unlovely. Help me realize that I am in that category too. Help us stay focused on You and Your truth. You are love and we are to love as You loved us. You didn't come rushing in on us, You simply walked with us until our eyes were opened and we saw You as love and not punishment. Help us do the same for others! Help us win the war against deception.
