Connecting Hope to the Hurting

WAIT QUIETLY?

I wait quietly before God,
for my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.
So many enemies against one man –
all of them trying to kill me.
To them I'm just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence.
They plan to topple me from my high position.
They delight in telling lies about me.
They are friendly to my face,
but they curse me in their hearts.
Interlude
I wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
for God is our refuge.
Interlude
From the greatest to the lowliest –
all are nothing in his sight.
If you weigh them on the scales,
they are lighter than a puff of air.
Don't try to get rich by extortion or robbery.
And if your wealth increases,
don't make it the center of your life.
God has spoken plainly,
and I have heard it many times:
Power, O God, belongs to you;
unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you judge all people according to what they have done.
Psalm 62

As we prepare for the Christmas Season, we might as well get ready to wait. We will spend time waiting in lines to pay for our merchandise. If we go out to eat we may wait for quite a while for a table. We may have to wait on relatives or friends before we can start our meal. No doubt about it, advent is a time of waiting.

For centuries, God's people waited on the birth of the Messiah. Yet, when He came they did not recognize Him. Sad. Yet, as the book series, Left Behind, portrays, many know about Him, but they don't know Him! Sad too.

Give yourself time this season to have an "interlude" with Your Savior. Spend the time waiting in line, etc., to pray. Yes, you can pray in the process of shopping, eating, and spending time with relatives because prayer can be internal communication as well as external communication with God. So, while you're waiting, let your mind wander and wonder in the Savior of the world!

Father, we do thank You for Christmas, for the birth of Christ. Let His Spirit be renewed in our hearts and minds this Christmas as we spend time waiting. Help us first and foremost be aware that we are waiting for the return of Christ, not as a baby, not as a crucified Savior, but as a Warrior coming for His Bride. We do wait – in wonder of Your love!

Hope you were encouraged.
Please come back often.
