Connecting Hope to the Hurting

Okay, for those of you who don't visit the website, this won't mean anything to you, but for those of you who do...you will understand.

Today's devotional really hits me hard this week. My precious husband came to me late Sunday morning and said, "Honey, today is not St. Patrick's day." Now, that may not mean a thing to you, but well, it did to me, you see, I put the St. Patrick Day's devotional up for Sunday - duh! Do you think maybe I've had the flu, Cody's had the flu, and I've had a semi-relapse? I think so!!!

Oh, and that's not all! I got up way early this morning and "thought" I was posting today's devotional on the website, but I posted it on last year's devotional...so needless to say, last year is coming down!

Please keep our family in your prayers!

In His Hope,
Sharon

WOMEN SHOULDN'T WHAT?

Wives must not disrupt worship, talking when they should be listening, asking questions that could more appropriately be asked of their husbands at home. God's Book of the law guides our manners and customs here. Wives have no license to use the time of worship for unwarranted speaking.
1 Corinthians 14:34-35

Okay, I've looked for the law that Paul is referring to. I've looked for anything that says something about women not speaking in meetings or that women need to submit to their husbands and I came up with nothing before the New Testament. So, I have no clue what Paul is referring to. If any of you do have this information I am ready to receive it.

However, again we must look at who the letter was written to and the culture at that day and time. If God prophesized through the prophet Joel that in the end times both sons and daughters would prophesy, I think I'm going with that.

Now I am not one to adhere to Old Testament rules. For instance, Exodus 21:7-11 gives this scenario: "When a man sells his daughter to be a handmaid, she doesn't go free after six years like the men. If she doesn't please her master, her family must buy her back; her master doesn't have the right to sell her to foreigners since he broke his word to her. If he turns her over to his son, he has to treat her like a daughter. If he marries another woman, she retains all her full rights to meals, clothing, and marital relations. If he won't do any of these three things for her, she goes free, for nothing." Know anyone today in America or any other free nation who allows the buying and selling of sons and daughters? (Some days I wanted to sell mine. Man, if I had just been obedient!) Okay, so that law is no longer relevant? There are many, many more we could deliberate. Do we leave in a few and tear out the others? What do we do?

Personally, I believe with all my heart that the Lord has shown me that it is precepts we must adhere to. Those precepts are based on love and mercy. God can anoint, call, and raise up anyone He so desires and we must honor His anointed.

How do we know if a person is anointed? Well, maybe we will talk about that another time!

Father, help us get beyond the stuff that separates us and focus on what binds us together! We truly stand in need of Your guidance.

Hope you were encouraged.
Please come back often.
