WISDOM

My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him. Proverbs 2:1-8

Most parents want their children to be wise and make wise choices. As our Father, God wants us walking in His wisdom – not the wisdom of the world.

The world has separate standards from God's standards. Many people who are saved later in life have a difficult time making that distinction. Of course, there are many Christians who were saved early in life that have a difficult time with this as well. Satan is constantly on the prowl trying to get us away from God's truth and God's standard of living.

In my family of origin, divorce was as common as buying a new coat when the old one was worn out. It took me almost twenty years to unlearn what I learned in the first twenty-five years of my life. Changing partners is much more serious to God than changing coats.

Wisdom teaches us through difficult times. Wisdom teaches us to hang in there and trust God with the outcome. Knowledge gives us insight for our daily walk and this is worth digging in His Word through the power of prayer for. However, wisdom also teaches us that when we are being abused to seek shelter from our abuser.

Today, as you go about your Saturday routine, ask the Lord to give you wisdom and knowledge concerning your circumstances and don't be surprised if He instructs you to begin by standing in front of a mirror!

Father, we thank You and praise You for Your wisdom and knowledge that You share so freely with those who seek after You with all their heart. Help us to live our lives in such a way that those You lead in and out of our lives will see You and receive the benefit of the wise counsel You offer through the power of Your Holy Spirit.

Hope you were encouraged.
Please come back often.
