"My child, how I will rejoice if you become wise. Yes, my heart will thrill
when you speak what is right and just."
Proverbs 23:15-16
We all know that the major theme of the book of Proverbs is wisdom. Proverbs 2:2-4 says, "Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure." Just as we want our children to make wise choices, our Father wants the same for us. When we are walking in the power of the Holy Spirit He will guide our thoughts and lead us to make wise choices. We have the hidden treasure of hope in Jesus Christ ¾ the personification of wisdom.
In order to become wise and walk with insight and understanding we must take time to listen to the Lord. Reading His Word, spending time in prayer, and talking often with a spiritual friend will help us grow spiritually into the wisdom of God's purpose for our lives. Wisdom is freely given to us if we will stop talking and start paying attention ¾ to God and His Word, to our husband or wife, and to our Christian friends.
It is difficult in today's world for young people to keep their eyes on Jesus. Therefore, let us begin now to concentrate on praying for these people and being the people God wants us to be so they can see Jesus in us!
Father, I thank You for being the God of second chances. I pray, Lord, that You will grant us wisdom in handling the desires of our children. Lord, I know there is a fine line between living a Christian life and living a religious life. Help us live a life that brings honor and glory to You and leads our young people to You.
