FOOL OR FOOLISH?

It is better to be poor and honest than to be a fool and dishonest.
Zeal without knowledge is not good; a person who moves too quickly may go the wrong way.
People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.
Proverbs 19:1-3

Hallelujah! According to this passage of scripture, contrary to what many people may think ¾ I'm not a fool! Yeah Jesus! That’s not to say that this was always true about me.

Now, I don't know about you, but when I first became a Christian I just knew God was going to use me to change the world! I mean, after all, I was radically saved. In one day I went from being a rebel cocktail waitress/bartender to being a born again Christian. Surely, everyone would want to hear my story, be totally impressed with God, and hunger to know Him…oh, well! That didn't happen.

I had much zeal, but little knowledge and ended up going down too many wrong roads. Not only was in the process of ruining my life ¾ I was pulling people down with me left and right. Man, if only I had truly known the scriptures.

Like me, many new Christians have much zeal. Unfortunately, they have little knowledge and end up making poor choices. Oh, they've learned all the proper Christian phrases and can even spout off some scripture from memory, but that doesn't mean they have knowledge. Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging, I'm simply relating my life and the life of many other people I know who lived out the truth of today’s scripture passage!

Boy, I'm glad my Father is the creator of grace and mercy ¾ aren't you?

Father, I praise You for teaching me through the wrong choices I've made. I pray that You will continue to bless people with Your grace and mercy as they wake up and recognize that they have made a wrong choice that turned their love for You into anger. Bless them with the ability to turn back to You with repentance and find joy in Your embrace. Help us to be foolish in our love for You, but to be wise when it comes to the choices we make. We simply want to honor You with our lives!

Hope you were encouraged.
Please come back often.
