Joseph's suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his advisers. As
they discussed who should be appointed for the job, Pharaoh said, "Who could do
it better than Joseph? For he is a man who is obviously filled with the spirit
of God." Turning to Joseph, Pharaoh said, "Since God has revealed the
meaning of the dreams to you, you are the wisest man in the land! I hereby
appoint you to direct this project. You will manage my household and organize
all my people. Only I will have a rank higher than yours."
And Pharaoh said
to Joseph, "I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt." Then
Pharaoh placed his own signet ring on Joseph's finger as a symbol of his
authority. He dressed him in beautiful clothing and placed the royal gold chain
about his neck.
Genesis 41:37-42
Can you imagine how Joseph must have felt as he entered this time of blessing? I am beginning to! Now, we've got to remember that Joseph went through the time of testing that resulted from having done all the right things, but being wrongly accused. Some of us have been there, but not the extreme of being put in prison and totally forgotten by the people we helped while in there. Yet, Joseph endured and was blessed for his endurance. When we wait on God, as Joseph did, God is free to lift us up.
Several years ago, someone prophesied that God had hidden me in the cleft of a rock, but that He would soon bring me out. Well, I was able to receive that as truth because God had pretty much told me the same thing. Then one Sunday afternoon when I lay down to take my nap, He literally gave me a vision of being down in a cavern like place totally surrounded by rocks. At the top of the area I was hidden in were two groups of people.
One group was standing around trying to figure out what in the world I had done to deserve being placed in such a bad place. The other group was trying to figure out a way to get me out. I was comfortable through all of it, being in that place felt safe and warm. Then, the ground began moving. I felt as though an elevator was under me lifting me up. Soon, I found myself being raised higher than either group, and I got so excited that I couldn't sleep.
Then, when I read today's scripture several weeks after that, I knew that God was dressing me in His robes of righteousness and preparing me for His plan for my life. He then showed me that being in the rock wasn't punishment for something I had done wrong; it was preparation for what He was going to do.
He has much work left to do in my life. I am far from a finished product, but He is the finisher! He will complete His work in my life, in His time, in His way, and that is good enough for me.
Lord, I lift up all the people who are in that place of preparation. I know that others are looking at their lives and wondering what in the world is going on. I praise You because You often don't let us, much less anyone else, know Your plans for us. I praise You and thank You for dressing us in whatever robe it is You want us to wear. I love this journey Lord and it doesn't matter if You give me a coat of many colors or a royal robe, knowing You is enough!
