When all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings who
lived along the Mediterranean coast heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan
River so the people of Israel could cross, they lost heart and were paralyzed
with fear.
Joshua 5:1
Can you imagine people hearing the good things the Lord has done for you getting depressed? Well, it happened back then and it happens today.
We live in a country that is prosperous. Other nations are jealous of America to the point of hate. They would like to see us destroyed.
For the next four or five days the Lord has shown me that we are to focus our prayers for our nation and its leaders. Let us pray that our leaders will listen to the Lord so closely that when other nations hear about the marvelous works God is doing in our land they will not lose heart and be paralyzed with fear, but they will begin to turn their eyes on Jesus.
Father, I thank You for reminding me to pray for our nation. Too often I neglect this aspect of my responsibility as a Christian. Help me as I go about my duties and recreation today to be ever mindful of the freedom we have in this nation ¾ freedom to serve and worship You. Let this be a reminder to pray.
