Today we start in the book of Joshua, I hope you will
enjoy the trip.
In His Hope,
Sharon
After the death of Moses the Lord's servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of
Nun, Moses' assistant. He said, "Now that my servant Moses is dead, you must
lead my people across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise
you what I promised Moses: 'Everywhere you go, you will be on land I have given
you — from the Negev Desert in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north,
from the Euphrates River on the east to the Mediterranean Sea on the west, and
all the land of the Hittites.' No one will be able to stand their ground against
you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not
fail you or abandon you."
Joshua 1:1-5
In 2000, I decided, for the first time in five years I would not read "through the Bible." I simply asked the Lord to show me what He wanted me to read, and I've been doing the same thing ever since. So, when I felt Him telling me to turn to Joshua I got excited. I love this book. Yet, even though I was excited I wasn't prepared for the blessing I was to receive.
God gave me specific passages in Joshua over two years ago that led me to start organizing a ministry. More and more I realize that this ministry is not mine — it is definitely His! Therefore, I take great joy in knowing that if I died tomorrow God would provide a Joshua!
When God first sent Moses and the Israelites to the edge of the Promised Land, it was Joshua and Caleb who had faith that they could make it. However, because the other people doubted and were afraid, God led them through the wilderness for forty years. Now, God is rewarding Joshua for the faithfulness to walk with Moses through the wilderness.
Are you someone's Joshua? Has God placed you in a position of servanthood to encourage, love, and support a person in a leadership position? Well, be encouraged. God will elevate you in His time.
Another thing that touched my heart, God assured Joshua that no matter where he walked (within specific boundaries) he would be on land that He had given them. Although they had not taken ownership it was still theirs.
When God is for us — no one can be against us. Oh, yes, they can come against us, but we are guaranteed victory. Remember — our war is not with flesh and blood!
Father, I thank You that Your Word is everlasting and pertinent to my life today. I thank You for the many Joshuas you have placed in my life. I trust You to help me be the leader they need me to be and I thank You for the assurance that if I died tomorrow Woes to Wows would continue. You are worthy of all my praise!
