LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you
will listen to their cries and comfort them.
You will bring justice to the
orphans and the oppressed,
so people can no longer terrify them.
Psalm
10:17-18
Back in 2003, the week before Christmas, Callie and Cody came down with the flu, shortly thereafter, Roger and our houseguest, Ronnie, came down with the flu as well. So, there I was trying to dodge the flu while sort of seeing after some of them with my main attention being Callie. Talk about some helpless folks! Whew!
Well, then came Christmas and on its heels New Year's Day, which is a big deal at our house and I found myself barely hanging on. I was sleeping more than I was staying awake. I think I had some kind of sleeping flu or something I don't know, but it drove this type A girl nearly bonkers.
When we're sick, when we're depressed, when our lives are out of kilter in any shape, form, or fashion, we feel helpless. It is then we can rest assured that the one who will hear our cries is our Heavenly Father. Now, trust me, it may not seem like He hears our cries, but He does!
He knows what each and every one of us needs to help us become all He wants us to be and He gives us the right amount of hope to do exactly that.
