FREE TO WORSHIP!

But as the Ark of the LORD entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she was filled with contempt for him…
When David returned home to bless his family, Michal came out to meet him and said in disgust, "How glorious the king of Israel looked today! He exposed himself to the servant girls like any indecent person might do!"
David retorted to Michal, "I was dancing before the LORD, who chose me above your father and his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the LORD. So I am willing to act like a fool in order to show my joy in the LORD. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, but I will be held in honor by the girls of whom you have spoken!" So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her life.
2 Samuel 6:16, 20-23

King David was definitely a man after God's heart. He worshiped Him! He didn't care what anyone else thought ¾ He danced before the Lord and didn't worry about what other folks thought; his wife did.

Back when we had our coffeehouse, a man we called "Van" was one of the coffeehouse regulars. Van loved the Lord. He was a little bit different than most people and that made him special. Well, Van came to a special concert we were having; expecting to be at the coffeehouse. So, even though the concert was in the worship center he just behaved like he does in the coffeehouse ¾ he danced. As a result, even though the crowd was extremely small the quartet received a blessing.

Van didn't go to the extreme that King David did. King David was dancing "naked" in the streets! With all my heart I believe King David's whole point was that he was nothing without the Lord. Maybe he was thinking about Job's statement that he came into the world naked and he would go out of this world naked. David knew that God accepted him and loved him and this was the only way He knew he could show the people that it was God's might and power that had delivered the arc back to them.

Many people just are not comfortable raising their hands in praise to God and they aren't comfortable with anyone else doing it either. Well, let me tell you, as a person who has been on both sides, something incredible happens within me every time I move into the freedom of raising my hands in praise to God!

I believe God didn't allow Michal to have children because she complained about God's anointed one! It is just not a good thing to do. Now, let's take this a step further. Since we have the blood of Jesus Christ as our covering ¾ we are His anointed ones as well. So, if you see one of God's anointed ones praising Him ¾ no matter the form ¾ don't speak against it. God will take the blessing He had for you and give it to the one who is praising Him!

Lord, many times we don't understand Your ways. We don't understand why worshiping You releases blessings into our lives, but I am glad it does. I thank You and praise You that You have never called me to dance before you naked and I know other people are too! However, I thank You for the freedom You have given me to raise my hands, get on my face, and simply praise You from my heart! Keep me free!

Hope you were encouraged.
