INTERLUDE TO HONOR!

Sing praises to God, our strength.
Sing to the God of Israel.
Sing! Beat the tambourine.
Play the sweet lyre and the harp.
Sound the trumpet for a sacred feast
when the moon is new,
when the moon is full.
For this is required by the laws of Israel;
it is a law of the God of Jacob.
He made it a decree for Israel
when he attacked Egypt to set us free.
I heard an unknown voice that said,
"Now I will relieve your shoulder of its burden;
I will free your hands from their heavy tasks.
You cried to me in trouble, and I saved you;
I answered out of the thundercloud.
I tested your faith at Meribah,
when you complained that there was no water.
Interlude
"Listen to me, O my people, while I give you stern warnings.
O Israel, if you would only listen!
You must never have a foreign god;
you must not bow down before a false god.
For it was I, the LORD your God,
who rescued you from the land of Egypt.
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.
Psalm 81:1-10

Today is Memorial Day. This is a day when we honor those who have gone before us, with special emphasis on those who fought for our freedom. God set in motion a series of special times when His people were to be still and other times when they were to celebrate special days. In America this is a special day when we honor both God and man.

If we get to the point where we put more emphasis on man than we do on God then things get a little out of balance. It is God who helped our men and women through every battle. It is God who gave us this country ¾ the home of the brave and the free. Why then are so many still fearful and in bondage? Personally, I believe it is because they have honored man over God.

As we go about doing whatever it is we will do today, let us first celebrate the God of our fathers before we celebrate our fathers. God wants us to be obedient to Him and when we put Him first in celebration and obedience, He will fill our mouths with good things. I'm ready ¾ how about you?Father, I thank You that You are the God who goes before us and behind us to guide us and protect us. I thank You for the many men and women who fought to make this country the land of the brave and the free. Lord, I know they couldn't have accomplished this without Your hand guiding them. We honor You and we take the time for an interlude to honor them as well.

It is also our anniversary — 18 years of marriage — Happy Anniversary honey!

Hope you were encouraged.
Please come back often.
