A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.
Proverbs
15:1
One of the most difficult things to do in disciplining children is – keeping your cool when they are running amuck.
Our grandson has major anger issues and he doesn't mind taking them out on anyone in authority. He has gotten better over the past two years, but recently he has done some backsliding.
A new kid moved into the neighborhood and he seems to be a bad influence on Cody. Just last weekend I had knives disappear from my kitchen; when confronted Cody admitted they were gone and brought two of them back and said his friend took them. The true story? Cody took them and blamed it all on his friend. His friend actually went and retrieved the rest of them for me. I was angry? You betcha!
It is really difficult for me not to yell and scream at Cody when I know he has lied and/or done something really stupid, but I'm learning.
Father, I thank You for Your words of wisdom. Please help me apply them.
