PUT FEET TO YOUR FAITH

These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
1 Peter 1:7

When will we get it? This world is temporary! The only thing that matters is God! This scripture reminds me of an old joke about a man who died and stood before Saint Peter with a bar of gold in his hand. He just knew that the gold would get him in the gate. However, Saint Peter told him differently. He let him know that from Heaven's perspective the man was simply carrying a brick because the streets of Heaven are paved in gold.

That needs to be something we remind ourselves of often. We need to remind ourselves that without faith it is impossible to please God. He truly wants us to trust Him. That is the meaning behind Jesus' admonition to come to Him as a little child. Children act on faith constantly. They trust implicitly. They love purely.

I was thinking the other day how I just wish people could love like little children. Our little Cody thinks his PawPaw Runk is wonderful. Now, this is my ex– husband, a man who had no involvement with Cody's mother while she was growing up. Yet, later in life he recognized that he was living a selfish life and committed himself to caring for his disabled parents.

When Cody looks at this man he doesn't see the broken down man the world sees. Cody simply sees someone who loves him unconditionally and likes to spend time with him. That is how God wants us to see Him!

Father, You are awesome. I thank You for loving me even more than Ronnie loves Cody. I thank You for covering my sins with the blood of Jesus and making me pure in Your eyes. Now, Father, help me to trust that love enough to be obedient to Your call on my life by putting feet to my faith.

Hope you were encouraged.
