"When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest
but finding none. Then it says, 'I will return to the person I came from.' So it returns and finds its
former home empty, swept, and clean. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself,
and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off
than before. That will be the experience of this evil
generation."
Spiritual warfare is not a game. It is not to be taken lightly. It is serious business. It is Kingdom work. James warned the Believers of his day: "So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7) Humility is important. It needs to be balanced with the authority Jesus gave us.
Roger and I have been through the ritual of riding our home of demonic forces many times. However, when you have a rebellious person living in your home this must be done daily. Any time we cast these forces from our home, if we do not fill the emptiness with the presence of God, those forces return, bringing their buddies with them.
Prayer is the key to keeping our homes clean. We must stay in an attitude of prayer. This doesn't mean we have to walk around praying all the time, it simply means we walk in the Spirit and obey whatever the Spirit warns us of. When we get so caught up in our own spirituality and piousness we sometimes invite demonic activity. If we are going to keep our homes free of demonic activity we must operate in humility and love.
So tonight, before the little children and their parents come, stand against the forces of darkness by getting the relationships in your home right before God. Then, make a definite declaration that your home belongs to God. Tell Satan's demons that, "In the name of Jesus, I cast out any demonic forces in or surrounding my home, and by His authority I demand that You be bound from this place. You have no business here." Then, put on praise music and prepare to greet the people with the love of the Lord.
Father, I ask protection for everyone who makes a stand against Satan and makes the choice to love anyone who enters their presence today and tonight. Help us remember that love covers a multitude of sin and drives the enemy away. We need Your authority, Your grace, and Your power to conquer the evil attitudes we possess. Help us get right with You, right with those in our homes, and then offer love to people we come in contact with. We will be very careful to give You all the glory!
