To all who mourn in Israel, he will give beauty for ashes,
joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair.
For the Lord has planted them
like strong and graceful oaks
for his own glory.
Isaiah 61:3

"Who then can so softly bind up the wound of another
as he who has felt the same wound himself?"
Thomas Jefferson

What are Woes?

Well, they are those circumstances that come up and attack you just when you think you've finally gotten everything together. Well, even when you don't think you've gotten everything together! Woes are simply — Wounds of Existence — bad things that happen to you as you travel through this thing we call life on planet earth...the place God designed for us to live until He allows us to come to our permanent dwelling place...got it?

Putting it simply, (if it can be put simply) we know that life's problems can be perplexing when you are alone — but it doesn't have to be that way. There is hope in Him! Thank you for dropping in to visit. We are Roger and Sharon Sanderson, and we trust that you will be encouraged by your visit here and that you will find the path to hope in Him necessary for your journey. Together, we will heal one hurt at a time.

If you read many articles throughout the website you will discover me saying it over and over again — we aren't a cut of the mill ministry — we are real people, with real problems, trusting a real Savior to bring us through in real time. The following quote by Henry Nouwen is bascially where we are in our lives — we haven't yet arrived, but we are definitely on the road and in the process of our journey we want to help others as much as we can.

The Hope Connection was born from my own frustration as a Christian going through crisis situations – without support. Therefore, God moved me to begin this website, especially this section, as a means of support. No matter what you are dealing with, when you go through tough times you usually feel overwhelmed with life. God wants you to know that you are not alone! Each and every one of us will go through a crisis, a time when just making it through the day feels like it is too much to bear. At times like this, a little encouragement can go a long way towards helping us arrive at hope without falling completely apart.

In most of the areas listed above we have testimonies of people who have actually walked through the issues. When we don't, we do our best to provide information that will help you cope with whatever problem you or a loved one may be experiencing.

We are constantly updating our information as well as adding other information to make this website reader friendly. If you have a story of how God helped you turn a woe into a wow, please share it with us. We just might use it and it could quite possibly be an encouragement for someone else.

In His marvelous devotional book, "My Utmost for His Hightes," Oswald Chambers states: "...it is adversity that makes us exhibit His life in our mortal flesh...The only thing that will enable me to enjoy adversity is the acute sense of eagerness of allowing the life of the Son of God to evidence itself in me. No matter how difficult something may be, I must say, 'Lord, I am delighted to obey You in this.' Instantly, the Son of God will move to the forefront of my life, and will manifest in my body that which glorifies Him."

As His children, we want to glorify Him. However, when we are in the midst of a storm glofiying anyone is not first on our priority list. We at Woes to Wows Ministries want to encourage you to let God turn your woes (adversities) to wows by allowing Him to do His work in your life. We hope that through this website and the stories of others who have allowed Him to do this work in us - you too will receive the strength necessary to survive your storm.

The links above will take you to some thoughts or testimonies on a particular topic in which someone has "been there – done that." Maybe you have "been there – done that" through something not listed here. If so, send me your story and I just might add it!

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity,
but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:17

I began to realize that my fears and anxieties were self-imposed. God’s choice for me was to have power, love and self-discipline. God did not give me a spirit of fear! My poor self-image, my anxieties, my fears were all my own doing and my sin because I lacked faith to receive the power, love and self-discipline that God really wanted me to have.
